Mariano Rivera rebounded with a scoreless inning to help the Yankees get their first win of the 2012 season. Ivan Nova went seven strong innings. He gave up 10 hits but did not walk a batter. Derek Jeter had four hits, with an RBI and a run scored.
Nova was followed by David Robertson with a scoreless inning on his birthday and he gave way to Mo for the ninth.
Rivera got Chris Davis on a wind blown pop up to third for the first out. Robert Andino doubled over the head of Nick Swisher after Mo fell behind him 3-0. Nolan Reimold struck out swinging and J.J. Hardy lined out hard to left to end the game.
Rivera is 0-1 on the early season with 0 saves, 1 blown save and has lowered his rather bloated ERA to 13.50.
