04/30: Rivera Saves For Kuroda As Yankees Pull to Within 1/2 Game of O's
Posted by: David
Eric Chavez belted a two run home run early to give the Yankees the lead over Jason Hamel and the Orioles and Kuroda made it hold up for seven innings. Kuroda held the lead in the seventh when on a potential wild pitch he rushed to the plate and tagged out the runner at home to preserve the lead.
David Robertson struck out the side in the eighth and Mo entered for the ninth. Rivera made easy work of Nolan Reimold as he shattered his bat of the second pitch of the AB and he grounded out weakly to Cano at second. J.J. Hardy lined a single to right center on a pitch that Mo left up and outside. Nick Markakis hit the ball hard to the left side but Jeter made a back hand grab and turned it into a 6-4-3 game ending double play. For Rivera the save was his 5th of the season in 6 save opportunities. His record is 1-1 and his 2012 season ERA now stands at 2.16. CommentsNo comments yet.
