10/13: Rivera does it again! Yankees up 2-0 in ALCS

Posted by: David
Mariano Rivera did it again. He was brought in the eighth win a runner on third to relieve Tom Gordon. He faced Johnny Damon and struck him out looking to end the inning. The Yankees had a chance to put it away in the bottom of the eighth but A-ROD flew out to right with the bases loaded. Mo retired Bellhorn on a grounder to first to start the ninth. Manny Ramirez doubled up the gap in left. He then had to face David Ortiz who has a .538 lifetime average against him. No problem he strikes him out swinging. Next is Millar, the cowboy up was cowboy down as Mo fanned him to end the game and preserve a 3-1 victory for John Lieber who was magnificent through seven innings. The save for Rivera is his 32nd postseason of his career and his E.R.A. is lowered to 0.69.
