Posted by: David
Mariano Rivera earned his 331st career save to move him into 8th place by himself and ahead of former Yankees closer John Wetteland. With the score tied 7-7 to start the ninth, Gary Sheffield and Hideki Matsui homered to give the Yankees a 9-7 lead. Then entered the Sandman. Mo struck out Melvin Mora on a 3-2 pitch. Tejada lined a shot back to Mo which he caught for the second out and then he broke the bat of Palmeiro on a grounder to first to end the game. Its his MLB leading 48th save of the year.
