Where have you gone Mariano Rivera? This is the question the Yankees faithful must be asking. Today was much worse than yesterday. Mo surrendered five runs (only one earned) on three hits and three walks. With the Yankees leading 3-2 going to the ninth (same as day before) Rivera entered. He walked Bill Mueller on five pitches. Bellhorn and Damon followed with singles to load the bases. Trot Nixon struck out swinging for the first out. Manny Ramirez hit a soft roller to third which A-ROD bobbled twice allowing the tieing run to score. David Ortiz followed with a weak grounder to Mo, but he had to go to first allowing the go ahead run to score. Renteria followed with a two run single and then Mirabelli walked. This was the end for Mo. He was taken out and replaced by Felix Rodriguez. Rodriguez threw a wild pitch allowing the fifth run of the inning to score and then retired the next batter to end the bloodbath. Mo is 1-1 with a 10 plus ERA and two blown saves in two opportunities.
