Mariano Rivera worked another scoreless ninth and recorded his tenth save of the season and preserved a 4-2 Yankees win for Wang. He faced the heart of the order and got Rondell White on a grounder to Tino with himself covering for the first out. Dmitri Young batted second in the inning. He is a switch hitter, but elected to bat right handed against Mo to avoid the cutter on his hands. Mo got him on a soft bouncer back to the mound. Craig Monroe battled Mo and fouled off several pitches before Mo walked him. Ramon Martinez followed and Mo got him on a fly ball to Sheffield in right center to end the game. Rivera is only one save shy of sixth place on the all time career saves list currently being held by Randy Myers. His season E.R.A. is now at 1.62.
