Mariano Rivera entered in the ninth inning with he scored tied at three. He retired Toby Hall on a hard grounder to A-Rod but pinch hitter Aubrey Huff then singled up the middle. He was replaced at first by Joey Gathright who stole second. Mo got Julio Lugo to ground to second but Cano bobbled the ball and it went behind him allowing Gathright to score. Lugo was throw out between first and second. Carl Crawford followed with an infield single which made the run allowed earned, but then Rivera struck out Cantu to end the inning.
Rivera is now 6-4 on the season and his ERA was lowered to 1.38.
