10/27: More on Mo Restaurant
Posted by: Patrick
Kevin Kernan has an article on Mo's restaurant:
Joe Fosina, who has handled Yankee uniform alterations and reconditioning of equipment since the 1970s, lived in the same area where the pitcher was going to stay, so a club official asked Joe to drop him off that night in 1995. Fosina did and gave the pitcher his phone number. He said if he needed anything, call.
The next day, Fosina's phone rang. His wife, Mickie, picked up. On the other end was the young pitcher, who was just starting to learn English. "Mr. Joe . . . Stadium." ... "God put Joe Fosina in my life to help me out," Rivera says now, 413 saves later, including another 34 in the postseason to go along with his 8-1 October record as baseball's greatest closer. "I didn't even know how to get to the Stadium. So I called Joe." CommentsNo comments yet.
