Mariano Rivera helped the Yankees close out the road trip on a positive note by ptiching a perfect ninth inning to preserve a 3-1 victory for Mike Mussina and the Yankees. He struck out Lyle Overbay to start the inning then got Shea Hillenbrand on a bouncer up the middle which Mo slowed down and Robinson Cano made a fine play for the second out. Greg Zaun battled but eventually flew out to Johnny Damon in center to end the game.
Rivera now has 381 career saves. He is 0-1 on the season with two saves and has pitched to an ERA of 4.15.
