After being disappointed with his performance on Wednesday night, Mo wanted to redeem himself and pitch on Thursday against Tampa Bay. Joe Torre was somewhat hesitant and used Tanyon Sturtze to start the ninth with the Yankees leading 4-1.
Sturtze gave up a single to start the inning and Torre called for the Sandman. The first batter he faced was Damon Hollins who hit the ball well to deep center but Bubba Crosby chased it down for the first out. Next up was Joey Gathright who tonight Mo jammed and he bounced to second for a force out. Pinch hitter Greg Norton was jammed on the first pitch and bounced the ball to third which A-Rod handled for the final out of the inning.
Mo is 0-2 on the season with three saves and a 4.32 ERA. He now has 382 career saves.
