Mariano Rivera entered in the ninth with the game tied at 6 and had to face the top of the Mets order. Jose Reyes popped out to short for the first out. Mo got Paul LoDuca to 0-2 but then left a pitch out over the plate which LoDuca slammed to left for a double. Rivera then fought back and struck out Carlos Beltran for the second out. The Yankees elected to intentionally walk Carlos Delgago who had a .389 average vs. Mo. David Wright was up next and Mo got him to two strikes but then Stinnett called for the pitch in and Mo got it low and out over the plate and Wright hit it deep to center over the head of Damon for a game winning single.

Rivera is now 1-3 on the season and his ERA is up to 3.38.
