Mariano Rivera was simply awesome on Monday night. He worked a scoreless ninth to protect a 1-0 win for the Yankees and Chien Ming-Wang.
Travis Hafner was the first batter Mo faced and he grounded to first which Phillips fielded but he dropped the ball out of his glove attempting to throw and Hafner was safe on the error. Victor Martinez swung at the first pitch and flied to Damon in center for the first out. Eduardo Perez pinch hit for Ben Broussard and Mo blew him away on a high outside fast ball. Ronnie Belliard then looked at a called third strike to end the game.
For Rivera the save is his 13th of the season and 392nd of his career. His ERA now stands at 1.91.
