06/25: Rivera saves win for Moose vs. Marlins
Posted by: David
Mike Mussina and Dontrelle Willis both pitched great all day. Dontrelle just had one big mistake as he hung a breaking pitch to Johnny Damon in the eighth inning and the Yankees went ahead 2-1.
Kyle Farnsworth made it exciting in the ninth by loading the bases before getting a fly to left for the last out. The Sandman was business as usual. Rivera entered in the ninth and worked a perfect 1-2-3 inning to record his 16th save of the season. Jeremy Hermida grounded to second base for the first out. Cody Ross then bounced to A-Rod at third for the second out and Wes Helms was the last hope for the Marlins. Mo got him on a fly ball to right to end the game. Rivera now has 395 career saves and his season ERA is now at 2.01. CommentsNo comments yet.
