06/29: Rivera works two innings in Yankees extra inning win

Mariano Rivera worked the 9th and 10th innings yesterday afternoon in the finale of the three game series vs. the Braves.
The score was tied at two when he entered in the ninth. He struck out Brian McCann to start the inning and then Jeff Francouer singled to center. Mo then retired the next two batters in order to end the inning. In the tenth, Ryan Langerhans was retired before Marcus Giles got a four pitch walk. Edgar Renteria was up 2-0 on the count when Giles was thrown out attempting to steal for the second out. Mo worked back from a 3-0 count to retire Renteria on a grounder to second. In the 12th, Scott Proctor gave up a go ahead home run to Giles to put the Braves up 3-2. However, in the bottom of the twelfth, Giambi worked a one out walk and A-Rod finally delivered with a walk off home run to win the game 4-3. Rivera is has a 4-4 record with 17 saves in 19 save opportunites. His season ERA now stands at 1.88. CommentsNo comments yet.
