Mariano Rivera pitched a perfect ninth inning to preserve a 1-0 win for Jaret Wright and the Yankees. Carl Crawford led off the inning and Mo struck him out swinging on a high cutter inside. Rocco Baldelli was next and Mo caught him looking for the second out. Aubrey Huff was he last hope and Rivera jammed him and the result was a grounder to Andy Phillips at first to end the game.

For Rivera it was his 19th save of the season and the 398th of his career. His season ERA is now at 1.76.

The Yankees pitching was great all night. Jaret Wright pitched six strong scoreless innings and escaped a second and third with no outs in the first inning. Scott Proctor pitched the seventh and Kyle Farnsworth pitched a perfect eighth before giving way to Rivera to close.
