The Yankees fell behind 3-0 to Eric Bedard and the Orioles but were able to comeback and tie the game thanks to a two run homer from Johnny Damon off of reliever Latroy Hawkins. Robinson Cano put the Yankees ahead with an RBI double and they added two insurance runs in the eighth to end the scoring at 6-3.

Rivera entered in the ninth and struck out Ramon Hernandez for the first out of the inning. Nick Markakis hit a hot smash back to the mound which Mo gloved over his head and threw out Markakis for the second out. Brian Roberts battled Mo to a twelve pitch at bat and eventually singled to left. Chris Gomez then grounded out to Cano to end the game.

The save for Rivera is his 31st of the season and 410th of his career. His season ERA now stands at 1.83.
