It looked like it would be another day off for Rivera but Scott Proctor and Kyle Farnsworth were ineffective and Mo was summoned in the eighth with the Yankees leading 11-5 in a bases loaded, no out situation.
Rivera first faced Chone Figgins and induced a perfect double play ball which bounced over the glove of Nick Green and into center field scoring two runs. Juan Rivera got Izturis to bounce to A-Rod, which got Mike Nepoli of the Angels was caught in a rundown and ruled out for going out of the base line. Orlando Cabrera struck out and Vladimir Guerrero bounced to Jeter at short for the force at second to end the inning.
Rivera gave up a run in the ninth when after two outs, he hit Howie Kendrick with a pitch. Kendrick took second on defensive indifference (DI) and scored on a bloop single to right from Adam Kennedy. Kennedy also took second on DI but Mo got Nepoli to strike out to end the game.
Rivera is 5-5 on the season with 31 saves and his ERA now stands at 1.96.
