Mariano Rivera blew his third save of the season as Paul Konerko led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run to right center off of Mo. Rivera got him to swing and miss twice during the at bat but threw a flat cutter which was up and out over the plate. Konerko jumped on the pitch and tied the game.

Jermaine Dye was the next batter and singled to left. A.J. Pierzynski then attempted to sacrifice but the bunt was not good and Rivera fielded it and forced Dye at second. Pablo Luna replaced Pierzynski at first and attempted to steal but was thrown out by Posada for the second out. Joe Crede then flew out to right to end the inning.

The White Sox ended up winning the game in the bottom of the 11th inning when Dye lined a single to center to score Iguchi with the winning run.

Rivera is now 4-5 on the season with 28 saves in 31 save opportunities. His season ERA now stands at 1.96.
