Mariano Rivera entered the ninth inning not only in a non-save situation but also with the Yankees losing 7-6. Since Mo had last pitched on Monday, he needed to get his work to stay sharp.

He faced Nick Markakis to lead off the inning and he blooped a fly ball over shortstop for a leadoff single. Rivera then retired Tejada and Aubrey Huff on outfield fly outs before striking out Freddie Bynum to end the inning.

In the bottom of the ninth, Baltimore closer Chris Ray entered and got the first two outs. Cano singled, Jeter walked and Abreu was hit with a pitch to set the stage for A-Rod. This time he delivered with a grand slam walk off homer to the black in center field. The Yankees of course won the game 10-7.

Rivera is 1-0 on the season allowing only one hit in two innings with four strikeouts. His season ERA stand at 0.00.
