Mariano Rivera looked like his old self late Thursday afternoon as he saved the game for Andy Pettitte and the Yankees 4-3.
He entered in the bottom of the ninth and pitched a perfect inning. Gerald Laird led off and Mo blew him away swinging with a high fastball. Kenny Lofton pinch hit for Jerry Hairston, who had earlier tied the game on a home run. Lofton grounded to Jeter at second for the second out. The game ended when Michael Young grounded to Cano at second for the third and final out.
Rivera is 1-2 on the season with 2 saves and 2 blown saves and pitches to an ERA of 9.35.
