Mariano Rivera entered in the eighth inning with the Yankees leading 8-5 and quickly retired pinch hitter Jason Smith on a fly ball to center field to end the inning.
In the ninth, he got David DeJesus to ground back to the mound, Esteban German strike out and Mark Teahen to ground to third to end the game. Rivera is now 2-3 on the season with 17 saves in 19 save opportunities and pitches to an ERA of 2.89.
