Mariano Rivera converted his 5th save opportunity of the season on Tuesday night and maintained a perfect 0.00 ERA as he helped Andy Pettitte and the Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-3.
Mo entered in the bottom of the ninth and faced Elliot Johnson leading off and caught him looking at a fastball on the outside corner for the first out. Josh Bartlett scratched an infield single in the hole at short, but Rivera got tough and jammed Carl Crawford induicng him to fly to left with Damon making a running catch near the line for the second out. Carlos Pena then grounded to to second on the first pitch he saw to end the game.
For Rivera, the save was the 448th of his career.
