04/23: Rivera Records 6th Save of Season with Five Out Performance

Posted by: David
Mariano Rivera had to work a little harder than usual by entering in the 8th inning with two on and only one out. With the Yankees holding a 6-3 lead, Mo was summoned and had to face Paul Konerko. Konerko swung at the first pitch and flied to center for a sacrifice fly. Rivera then battled with Jermaine Dye and eventually got him to pop out to second to end the inning with the Yankees holding to a 6-4 lead.

In the ninth, Mo made easy work of the Chisox. Pierzynski led off and grounded to third for the first out. Carlos Quentin grounded back to the box and Joe Crede popped out to Posada to end the game.

It was Rivera's sixth save of the season and 449th of his career. His ERA for the season remains at 0.00.
