The
Dodgers website has an article on the unretiring of Jackie Robinson's number for a day, in order to honor the late ballplayer. It has a quote from Mariano Rivera, the last player to wear the number every day, since it was retired across the league in 1997.
"You're not just talking about any player or any person," Rivera said about the legacy left by Robinson. "The respect that he had for the game, the passion that he had for the game, how he played the game -- we should respect that and tribute that."
