08/11: Mariano Throws 1 Pitch in Yankees Loss to Angels

Posted by: Patrick
With the game tied at 3, Joe Girardi elected to keep Damaso Marte, who had thrown a scoreless eighth, back out for the ninth. But, after Howie Kendrick singled, Gary Matthews Jr. struck out and Mike Napoli walked, Girardi elected to bring in Mariano to face Chone Figgins.

What followed was Mo's shorted outing in I have no idea how long. He threw just one pitch - Figgins hit a ground ball that found it's way between Robinson Cano and Wilson Betemit, who was playing first. Kendrick scored to end the game.

As Kendrick was a runner that Marte put on, Mo received neither an earned run nor a loss. His ERA remains at 1.43.
