08/24: Rivera Records 30th Save of Season With Junior Watching

Posted by: David
Mariano Rivera recorded his 30th save of the season as his son (Mariano Rivera, Jr.) was serving as the bat boy on Saturday night for the Yankees.

Rivera entered in the ninth, with the Yankees holding a 5-3 lead, and quickly slammed the door by pitching a perfect inning. He got pinch hitter Alex Cintron on the first pitch to ground to short. Brian Roberts grounded unassisted to Cody Ransom at first and Nick Markasis struck out swinging to end the game.

For Rivera, he now has 473 career saves and is only 5 shy of Lee Smith for second on the all-time career saves list. His season ERA now stands at 1.57.
