Mo entered in the ninth with the score knotted at zero and pitched a perfect inning again. Luke Scott popped out to short on the first pitch. Montenez then popped up to short center for the second out before Alex Cintron was caught looking to end the inning.
In the bottom of the ninth, Derek Jeter was hit on the wrist with a pitch to start the inning and left the game. Bobby Abreu was intentionally walked after he worked the count to three balls. A-Rod grounded to second which looked like a sure double play ball but the throw from short was wide and pulled Millar off the bag and Rodriguez was safe. Jamie Walker entered and struck out Giambi and Nady was walked to load the bases. Robinson Cano delivered a single up the middle to score pinch runner Brett Gardner and the Yankees and Mo were winners 1-0.
Rivera is now 6-5 on the season and his ERA stands at 1.47. He is scheduled to make the last pitch at Yankee Stadium tomorrow night. Hopefully, it won't be a tie game and he will only have to pitch one inning.
