09/20: Rivera Records 37th Save as Yanks Beat O's in Opener of Stadium Finale

Posted by: David
Carl Pavano worked five innings, at times shaky, and the bullpen did the rest. Mariano Rivera followed Joba Chamberlain and recorded his 37th save in 38 opportunities as the Yankees defeated the Orioles 3-2 on Friday night in the Bronx.

Rivera got Adam Jones and Ramon Hernandez on infield ground outs. Montanez hit a single up the middle and Salazar reached on an infield single with Montanez moving to third with the tying run. Mo then got Brian Roberts to pop up to the catcher to end the game.

For Rivera, it's his 481st career save. His season ERA now stands at 1.49.
