It was a bittersweet evening for the Bombers. Mike Mussina continued in his quest for his first 20 victory season. He got his 19th on Tuesday night in Toronto as the Yankees defeated the Blue Jays, 3-1, in the opener of their three game series. However, the Red Sox defeated Cleveland to clinch the wild card berth and officially eliminate New York from postseason play.
Mo entered in the bottom of the ninth and pitched another perfect inning. He got Scott Rolen to ground to second and then caught Gregg Zaun and Travis Snider looking at called third strikes.
For Rivera, it's his 38th save of the season and 481st of his career. His season ERA now stands at 1.43.
