09/07: After 8 Day Break, Mo Saves Win Against Mariners

Posted by: Patrick
After a 5 run seventh inning rally, the Yankees held a 7-3 lead, heading into the eighth inning. Joba Chamberlain was called on to pitch.

After retiring the first two batters he faced, he allowed 3 consecutive singles, which led to a run being scored and a save situation being opened. Since Mo hadn't pitched in 8 days, you could say he was well rested. Joe Girardi brought him in and he retired Jose Lopez to end in the threat.

In the ninth, Mo sat the lineup down in order with a 1-2-3 inning. He struck out former Yankee Miguel Cairo to end it. It was his 33rd save and it lowered his ERA to 1.43.
