04/29: Rivera Surrenders Another Home Run as Yankees Defeat Tigers

Posted by: David
It looked like a laugher but Jonathan Albaladejo couldn't close the door. The Yankees were leading 8-1 entering the bottom of the ninth and Albaladejo was summoned to finish the game but he simply couldn't. He surrendered two runs and had two runners on and two outs when the call went out to Mo.

Mo faced Curtis Granderson and on the second pitch surrendered a three run home run to make the score 8 to 6. Placido Polanco then popped up to short right with Cano catching the final out.

Mo is 0-0 on the season with 4 saves in 5 save opportunities. His season ERA now stands at 3.11.

Hey Mr. Gomez,

David wrote that post, actually. :) He writes most of the recaps.

I don't think anything is wrong with Mo. This happens every year. He has a couple of rough games and then people get concerned... but, it's just a couple of rough games. :)

Thanks,

Patrick

Frankyn, I believe that nothing is wrong with Mo; no doubts that he should focus/concentrate in those kind of situations. Let me give you my comments about the game last night; Firstable, Mo should not come in to the game, he was not ready and need more time to warmed-up; it was a rush situation; and second,Mo is usually mediocre in an No-Saves Situations; his velocity was under 90's MPH and did not feel comfortable pitching in that situation. No excuses, Mo should focus more and more in those situations, due to the fact that the team needs him. Hope that he will have the opportunity to pitch and save tonight game, to get his confidence back.

I don't know if he'll be the same as ever. After all, he's not getting any younger and, EVENTUALLY, he will falter. I don't think that time is now. :) But, it could happen.

Still, this is just a couple of games and I think it should be kept in context. :)

Thanks,

Patrick

I agree Patrick and Mr. Diaz. April is often the cruelst month for Mo. Frankly it must be hard for any pitcher. Mo will, no doubt, get in finer and finer form as the season goes on.

By the way Patrick and David, thanks for the fine, fine website. Keep up the good work.

I AGREE, 100%, WITH YOU, JOHN lEWIS-M; THE WEATHER LAST NIGHT WAS AROUND 50'S AND MO DOES NOT LIKE THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF THE SEASON. HE BECOME STRONGER WHEN THE WEATHER IS HOT, IN THE SUMMER. HOPE HE WILL BE OK.
