Mariano Rivera entered the game in the eighth with the tying run at the plate and retired Melvin Mora on a force play grounder to short.

The Yankees rallied for six runs in the bottom of the inning thanks to Derek Jeter and some shoddy fielding from the O's. When the dust settled the Yankees had a 11-3 lead to start the ninth.

Rivera came back out and got Ty Wiggington on a grounder back to the box. Reimold took Mo deep to center on an 0-2 pitch to make the score 11-4. Mo then retired Chad Moehler on a liner to center and Robert Andino on a grounder back to the box to end the game. It's Rivera's 8th save of the season in nine save opportunities. His season ERA now stands at 3.06.
