04/29: Rivera Pitches Scoreless Ninth In Non-Save Situation vs. O's

Posted by: David
It wasn't a save situation, but Mo needed work. Rivera hadn't pitched since April 21st and rust was about to settle in.

A.J. Burnett pitched eight briliant innings of shutout ball and was helped with two home runs from Robinson Cano and a first inning sacrifice fly from A-Rod.

Rivera faced Nick Markakis to start the inning and he swung at the first pitch and popped up to Swisher in right for the first out. Matt Wieters worked a walk as Mo's control was not pinpoint as usual. He then got tough and struck Miguel Tejada swinging and then retired Luke Scott on a fly ball to right to end the game.

His ERA on the season remains at a perfect 0.00 with eight scoreless innings.
