04/06: Rivera Earns First Save of Season as Yankees Rebound vs. Boston

Posted by: David
What the Yankees tried to do on Sunday night, they weren't able to accomplish. However, tonight in Boston the Yankees got the ball to Mo with the lead and as usual he got the job done.

The Yankees fell behind early 1-0 and 3-1 as Victor Martinez bombed a two run shot off A.J. Burnett. Both he and John Lester were so-so for about five innings and then the bullpens took over.

On Sunday night the Yankee bullpen failed, tonight it was fantastic. Four scoreless innings from Aceves, Robertson, Marte, Chamberlain and Rivera.

Chamberlain entered in the eighth with Youkilis on second and only one out and struck out Beltre and Drew to end the inning. Robinson Cano added an insurance run in the ninth with a bomb deep to right to extend the Yankee lead to 6-4.

Mo entered in the ninth and jammed Mike Cameron as he popped up to short for the first out. Marco Scutaro battled and Mo left a ball out over the plate and Scutaro doubled off the Green Monster in left. However, "The Sandman" did not panic and struck out Ellsbury looking and got Pedroia to fly to right on the first pitch to end the game.

For Rivera, it is his 1st save of the season and 527th of his career. His 2010 season ERA is of course at 0.00.

Let's go Yankees. The bullpen looks awesome, special Joba and Mariano. Arriba Mo, the Panamanian Sensational, looks very impressive last night with 14 pitches and avg 93 MPH. You are the best of the best, with good location and control. We are looking for a great season this year, again.
