01/25: Posada: Rivera Suggests 2012 May Be His Last Year, But I Don't Believe It

Posted by: Patrick
Jorge Posada officially announced his retirement on Tuesday, ending a wonderful 17 year Major League career with the Yankees. Congratulations and best of luck, Mr. Posada.

As part of the festivities, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch, Posada revealed that Mariano Rivera told him that 2012 would be his final season, while Derek Jeter said he has three years left.

He then went on to say that he didn't think 2012 would actually be the closer's final season. Rivera was on hand and was asked about the topic.

"I don't think about it right now, but the time will come for me when I'll have to just admit it and hang [up] the glove and the uniform and move on," he said. "So we all go through that."

Thanks Mr. Diaz for the tip.
