With a 6-1 lead, Mariano Rivera came in to pitch the 9th in the final game of a 3 game series against the Mets at Shea. After retiring Shawn Green and Paul Lo Duca, second baseman Damion Easley homered to center. Next, the Mets sent Julio Franco up as a pitch hitter and Mo struck him out to end the game.
It was not a save situation. The earned run brings Mo's ERA up to 6.75.
