Posted by: David
Finally, for the Yankees and Yankee fans, Mariano Rivera entered the game in a save situation. Actually, this time he entered in the bottom of the eighth with the tying and go ahead runs on base.
With the Yankees ahead 6-5, Kyle Farnsworth allowed two runners on with two outs and Torre summoned Mo. He faced Lyle Overbay and got him to ground out to first on a broken bat bouncer to Mientkiewicz. The Yankees were able to add four runs in the top of the ninth and Mo was able to cruise through the heart of the Blue Jays order to end the game and earn the save. He got Vernon Wells to ground out to Jeter. Matt Stairs then grounded out to Cano and Frank Thomas flew deep to right to end the game. Mo now has four saves on the season and his ERA was lowered to 5.50 on the season. CommentsNo comments yet.
