Last night Mariano Rivera earned his 8th save of the season and 421st of his illustrious career. He is only three saves shy of third place on the all-time career saves list. Third place belongs to John Franco, former Mets closer. Second place is owned by Lee Smith with 478 and first place is active closer Trevor Hoffman who just earned his 500th career save.
