I'm running out of superlatives to describe the performance of Mariano Rivera for the 2008 season. The man is simply the best closer ever! The game was billed as a pitcher's duel with Wang facing off against C.C. Sabathia. Neither pitcher disappointed as each team only got four hits, but one of the Yankee hits was a home run off the bat of Melky Cabrera for the only run of the game.
Wang pitched seven solid innings and gave way to Joba in the 8th and then Mo in the ninth. Rivera had to face the heart of the Indians order and simply overmatched all of them. Victor Martinez hit a lazy fly ball to right field for the first out. Mo then caught Ryan Garko and Jhonny Peralta looking to end the game.
For Rivera, it's his 7th save of the season and 450th of his career. He still has not given up a run this season, so his ERA remains at 0.00.
